This Privacy Policy explains how I, Egija Vilcāne, consultative, clinical and health psychologist under supervision (Register of Psychologists No.: 7001154; the "Controller"), collect, process and store the personal data that visitors and clients of vilcanepsychology.com (the "User") provide through the website.

2. What data do we process about you?

We process data to handle consultation requests and answer your questions:

Contact data: name, email, phone number, and the message content you provide in the consultation request form on the website.

Special category data: information about your emotional state or health, if you voluntarily include it in the request form or during a consultation. All data obtained during the consultation process is strictly confidential and protected in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation and the rules governing psychologists' professional practice.

Technical data: IP address, device and browser information, cookies, only if you have given consent to analytics cookies (see section 7).

3. Purposes and legal basis

To provide the service: to respond to your consultation request (legitimate interest / pre-contractual steps).

To communicate: to contact you and answer your questions (legitimate interest).

Accounting: to comply with accounting obligations under Latvian law (legal obligation).

To improve the website: where you have given consent, to understand how visitors use the site (consent).

4. Data retention

Contact data is kept for up to 2 years after the last communication. Accounting data is kept in accordance with Latvian legal requirements (typically 5 years). Data collected as part of therapy is kept in accordance with the rules governing psychologists' professional practice.

5. Sharing data with third parties

Your data is never sold. Data is shared only with trusted partners who help operate the website (for example, hosting and analytics providers, see section 7), and with public authorities only where required by law.

6. Your rights

You have the right to:

7. Cookies

The website uses cookies in two categories:

Strictly necessary cookies: support core security features (for example, the admin content-editor login session). Without these, some site functionality won't work.

Analytics cookies (PostHog): used only after your consent, to understand how visitors use the website. Data is stored on PostHog's EU servers (Frankfurt). This information is never used for advertising, and the website does not use any marketing or advertising cookies.

On your first visit, you're shown a cookie banner where you can accept or decline analytics cookies. Until you consent, analytics cookies are not loaded. You can change your choice by clearing the site's browser data and revisiting the website.
